So, last night me and Kyle were laying in bed talking about marriage.
I have no idea how it came up. I don't really remember. I think we had just finished watching "Marriage Ref" and Kyle brought up my dad.
Anyway.
So we were talking and talking and talking, and I was getting super giddy 'cause I think it's cute how he's thought of marrying me. (Well, what were talking about, really, was how it's always the brides father who pays for the wedding.. ahaha.)
And then he asks me about prenups.
Was it wrong of me to feel a little insulted? I definitly did.
The Definition of Marriage : the state of being a married couple voluntarily joined for life (or until divorce); "a long and happy marriage"; "God bless this union."
Or until divorce?
Has divorce really become soooo everyday? Everyone's doing it, it's the cool thing to do?
As a little girl, I always imagined meeting the love of my life and feeling the same way about him from day 1 to the last day of my life. Looking back, obviously there's some things I never took into perspective, but my belief has never changed : and that's that I will never marry someone who I can see myself without. And if bad things happen... Well it sucks to be you, you VOWED through thick and thin, for good and for worse, and you can't break the promise. Just suck it up. Okay?
I know you can never know everything about a person. And I don't completely disagree with divorce, because as time wears on, people are growing to be sicker and sicker. And there's marriages that become life threatening. And so I will tell anyone in a bad marriage to SUCK IT UP, just as much as I'll tell someone in an UNHEALTHY, LIFE THREATENING marriage to get out.
BUT A PRENUP? Are we all growing up expecting no marriage to ever last? Should we just ban weddings all together?
I understand he just wants to protect himself... but if he's always going to be worried that I'll leave him and screw him up, I don't think we'll ever be ready for marriage!
